Memorial Day Weekend is the official kickoff to summer, and in Montana, there's no shortage of ways to celebrate.

For many, Memorial Day Weekend means backyard barbecues, road trips, camping, and spending time outdoors. However, Memorial Day carries a much deeper meaning. The holiday is dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women of the United States Military who lost their lives while serving our country.

If you're looking for a unique way to celebrate the long weekend in Big Sky Country, there are some great events that you need to know about.

First, the Beartooth Highway is expected to open for travel this weekend. The Montana side to Vista Point on Friday, while the opening of the Wyoming side is scheduled for Saturday, May 23. If you've never driven the Beartooth, you're missing out. It's one of the most scenic drives in Montana.

On Saturday, May 23, head to Gardner, Montana, for a celebration of the wild west at the Hell's A-Roarin' Horse Drive. You can attend a horse viewing at 12:00 p.m. before the drive starts at 2:00 p.m. Click here for details.

If you want to experience something truly Montana, head to The Old Saloon in Emigrant, Montana, for the 10th Annual Testy Fest on Sunday, May 24. The event starts at 4:00 p.m. and will feature live music from Pecos & the Rooftops, Rocky Mountain Pearls, and more.

On Monday, May 25, the concert season at KettleHouse Amphitheater kicks off with Claypool Gold, which includes Primus, Les Claypool's Frog Brigade, and Claypool Lennon Delirium. More details can be found on the Logjam Presents website.
