Morrissey Wasn’t Really Dropped By His Record Label

Turns out Morrissey is only one of the least reliable sources for Morrissey news.

Last week, a few days after Morrissey publicly lashed out at his label Harvest Records for what he perceived to be insufficient promotion of his latest album, 'World Peace is None of Your Business,' the fan site True-To-You posted that the crooner had subsequently been dropped by the label:

Three weeks after the release of Morrissey's 'World Peace Is None Of Your Business' (#2 UK, #14 US), Capitol Records/Harvest have ended their relationship with Morrissey, as directed by label boss Steve Barnett.
Morrissey is once again in search of a record label.

Morrissey had written statements for the site in the past (including his most recent rant in which he criticizes the U.N. and anyone who eats meat), prompting news outlets to believe the statement came straight from the horse's Moz.

But Billboard just confirmed through a "source close to the situation" that Harvest Records never actually dropped Morrissey. In fact, due to the agreement between Harvest and Morrissey, he is contractually obligated to deliver a second album.
