MDT crews will NOT be working or delaying traffic on Friday or Monday of the holiday weekend in Gallatin Canyon as part of the Gallatin Guardrail project.

The whole point is to ease holiday traffic and make it much easier to get in and out of town if you're headed that way this weekend.

According to the official Press Release:

  • Construction crews working to improve the guardrail on U.S. Highway 191 will not work Friday, August 30 or Monday, September 2.
  • The highway will be open to uninterrupted traffic during Labor Day weekend.
  • Construction will resume with single-lane closure on Tuesday, September 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. near the Greek Creek Campground.
  • This project is expected to be completed by November.
