Titled "A Celebration of Justin Townes Earle," the event will take place on what would have been Justin Townes Earle's 40th birthday.

While you may not agree that every song deserves a spot on this list, we hope you'll agree that alt-country deserves its place cemented in the history books.

No doubt -- Earle has written some truly iconic songs.

During a recent concert, Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle and others performed Tom Petty's "Refugee" in tribute to the late artist.

Steve Earle & the Dukes will performing at a fundraiser in August.

Now dubbed the Boob Project, the single will be released on Oct. 1 with proceeds benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
