The Red Hot Chili Peppers first tour in five years has been postponed because lead singer Anthony Kiedis needs foot surgery. The tour, which was originally scheduled to begin next Friday, will now kick off March 29th.

Apparently, Kiedis has been dealing with foot problems since RHCP's last tour (the Stadium Arcadium tour back in 2007). He recently said, "I stayed out on tour with broken bones in my feet from jumping off the bass drum." The Peppers released a statement saying, "Anthony recently underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot and is expected to make a full recovery."

Make-up shows have been scheduled and tickets for the old dates will be honored at the new ones. An updated itinerary is available here.
