Watch U2 Honor Manchester Victims, Perform ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
U2 used their May 23 visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! to express their support for the victims of the May 22 Manchester bombings — and to deliver an impassioned performance of their Joshua Tree hit "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."
The night's rendition of the classic track, which you can watch above, included assistance from a choir the band planted in the Kimmel studio audience — a new wrinkle introduced as the group continues its tour commemorating the 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree's release. Of course, with the world still absorbing the fallout from the terrorist attack in Manchester — which claimed the lives of more than 20 concertgoers at an Ariana Grande show — the group's thoughts weren't focused on their own achievements.
U2 frontman Bono addressed the attack during the show's interview segment, forcefully arguing that such baseless hatred needs to be repudiated — and vowing that it won't be allowed to dampen the spirit that makes the city great.
"They hate music, they hate women, they even hate little girls. They hate everything that we love, and the worst of humanity was on display in Manchester last night," Bono told Kimmel. "But so was the best... Manchester has an undefeatable spirit, I can assure you."
The band's Kimmel appearance marked the only time they're scheduled to sit for an interview and/or perform on TV while they're on their Joshua Tree anniversary tour, which got started May 12 and is scheduled to continue through early August. A deluxe reissue of the original album arrives in stores June 2.
