At around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Big Sky there was a propane explosion at Kenyon Noble just south of the Conoco gas station on Hwy 191. Here is video of the explosion by Explore Big Sky showing the explosion. .

 Two 1000 gallon propane tanks exploded. Big Sky Fire, the Bozeman Fire Department, Gallatin County Sheriff's office, Hyalite Fire Department, Gallatin Gateway Fire Department, and the Yellowstone Fire Department all responded.
According to a report on Explore Big Sky, a propane truck slid on some ice and hit a propane tank, sheering off some lines and causing an explosion.

The truck involved in the accident did catch fire but did not explode, as some earlier reports indicated. Part of the truck did catch fire, but the driver was uninjured. In fact, no one was injured in the accident.  Part of a nearby building was damaged.

A half-mile evacuation was instituted around the explosion area as a precaution. Hwy 191 was closed for a short time and traffic was delayed for several hours.
