Bozeman Area Funny Business: “What’s Going In Here?”

You know this game. I bet you've played it. Someone online will ask something along the lines of "does anyone know what's going into the new building on so-and-so street?" With so much new construction across Montana in 2023, the questions and answers fly around OFTEN.

What's going on with the big rest stop on North 19th? What about that long empty parking lot where the Black Angus used to be? The huge lot west of Main and 19th? You've seen them all. Well, this time we're headed out to Belgrade for a new project.

In the gift that keeps on giving, the Secret Bozeman Facebook group, we find the latest inquiry about new business guesses and new construction. Keep in mind that Gallatin Valley folks are a sarcastic bunch and given the chance to be a little snarky - we don't usually pass it up. The question was posed:

"Does anyone know what is being built next to MacKenzie river pizza in Belgrade?"

If you know anything about the Gallatin Valley, you know what happened next...pretty much nothing reliable. NOTE: The following quotes may have spelling errors, a minor typo, or grammatical boo boo. We did not edit them in any way.

• "everyone I know is guessing Starbucks"
• "I’ll take a city brew or even better Florence coffee!"
• "An art gallery that displays art about pizza from next door"
• "Town Pump with a bank, casino, and a brewery inside"
• "Trader Joe’s with a town pump"
• "A mini truck stop to match the one across the street. But smaller"
• "Fotomat"
• "Drive through pot shop"
• "I heard Buffalo Wild Wings possibly."
• "Drive thru petting zoo"
• "I think it’s a city brew"
• "Next to a pizza restaurant? Definitely a dispensary."

As you can see, none of the above responses were particularly helpful or at all accurate. Although everyone commenting might genuinely be curious, nobody has reliable information, valid contacts, or anything actually helpful to offer. It's 99% snark. Every. Time. This. Question. Is. Asked.

BTW - As soon as we get actual, credible, reliable information about what the owners decide to put in that building, we'll share it! As of this writing we were unable to confirm exactly what type of business they have decided on.
