David Bowie gets his family-friendly due this Friday (Nov. 18) courtesy of a tribute album featuring 20 new covers from a diverse array of artists — all of whom have united to support the It Gets Better Project.

Let All The Children Boogie: A Tribute To David Bowie, scheduled to arrive in stores Nov. 18, includes recordings of Bowie classics from a number of kindie stars — such as Dean Jones, Justin Roberts, and Elizabeth Mitchell — as well as recording artists not typically associated with the all-ages scene, such as Ted Leo and Old 97's frontman Rhett Miller.

The album marks the latest release from Spare the Rock Records, a label whose previous various-artist releases have raised more than $115,000 for non-profit initiatives including the Haitian People's Support Project and Girls Inc. Lauding Bowie as an artist who "proved that there are no rules about who you should or could be in this world," the Let All the Children Boogie press release notes the It Get Better Project's "mission to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them" — in other words, its work toward "a world where all the children can boogie freely."
