How to Watch the NASA Asteroid Crash [LIVE or VIDEO]

It's not every day that we intentionally fly stuff directly into other stuff in space. Crashing on purpose is what's supposed to happen on Monday, September 26th, and here's how you can watch it.

If you've never had the pleasure of watching NASA TV, this is your chance. In fact, you should bookmark it for future reference. Many cool things happen on NASA TV, including this "crash into an asteroid" thing.

Hey, if we can save humanity one day by successfully crashing into an oncoming asteroid, I guess I'm OK with intentional space debris. It's usually a hard pass. This particular asteroid poses no actual threat to us--this is just a defense test in case a future asteroid were to pose a real threat.

FYI: For those in Montana, the scheduled time of the crash is about 5:14pm our time. All the times listed on the NASA website are Eastern.

According to the official NASA schedule, this is what's SUPPOSED to happen on Monday, September 26th, 2022: (all times listed are EASTERN, so subtract 2 hours for Mountain times)

• 4:30 p.m. (approximately) – NASA’s SpaceX Crew-5 Flight Readiness Review media teleconference
• 5:30 p.m. – Watch a live feed from NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft (Streaming on NASA TV's media channel)
• 6 p.m. – Live coverage begins for NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) impact with the asteroid Dimorphos (Impact targeted for 7:14 p.m.)
• 8 p.m. – NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) post-impact press briefing
