The Bozeman Police Department received a call yesterday at 10:52 reporting that there had been a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist near the 300 block of East Griffin Drive. When police arrived at the scene, they determined that the rider of the bicycle, a 9 year old female, was deceased.

At the time of this writing, the name of the girl is being withheld from being released to the public. In a online statement on their official Facebook page, the Bozeman Police Department said the following:

This incident is currently being investigated by detectives from the Bozeman Police Department, along with assistance from the Montana Highway Patrol. Preliminary findings indicate the girl was riding westbound on the south side of Griffin Dr., then made an abrupt turn northbound across Griffin Dr. in front of the westbound vehicle.

The statement also mentions that several drivers witnessed the collision and were able to provide statements to the Bozeman Police Department. This of course isn't the first fatal accident that has happened between a vehicle and a bicyclist in the Bozeman area.
