Most Truthful Thing On The Internet About Montana

Hundreds of thousands of people are googling "Montana" on the daily. And if you were to do this in October of last year (2023), I would tell you I have found the biggest lie of all time on google. But, as the question has been updated as of 2024, I see that google finally got it right (or it's sources actually did some research).

Last October if you were to type into google, "Why are people moving to Montana" you will get an answer stating:

Montana has more going for it than just beautiful scenery. First off, it offers low cost of living and low tax rates which is also a strong motivator. It has no sales tax and has 7 tax categories from 1% to 6.9%. -Google

I laughed out loud when I saw this. Even in October of last year, Montana wasn't really offering 'low cost living'. I still chuckle a little when I read this.

If you were to ask google, 'is Montana cheap to live in', the 2024 answer is much more realistic.

The cost of living in Montana is 1% higher than the national average. Housing is 4% higher than the national average, while utilities are 9% lower. When it comes to basic necessities such as food and clothing, groceries are around 2% higher than in the rest of the country, while clothing costs 2% higher. -Google

Now that seems like a more realistic answer and you would think it would deter people from moving here. Unfortunately, us that live here are not used to the inflated prices and people moving from other states are. So it doesn't seem like that much of a shock when a three bedroom apartment/townhome is renting for $3000+ per month.

So the question is still up in the air, I suppose. Why ARE people moving to Montana if it is more expensive in living, dressing, housing, and shopping? Beats me.
