In just over a year, Montanans who use their state-issued Driver's License Card or State-ID Card to fly commercially or visit federal facilities will run into an issue.

Here in Montana, we've been reminded about Real ID now and again... seemingly once a year, or so, preparing us for the (pushed back) changeover date.

What is Real ID?

According to DHS.gov, the Real ID ACT established minimum security standards for issuing licenses, production, and prohibits certain federal agencies from accepting (for certain purposes) driver's licenses and ID cards from states that do not meet the Act's minimum standards.

Do I need a Real ID?
