Mainstream Comedians in Montana: Why Don’t They Perform Here?
I'm a huge fan of standup comedy. One of my favorite memories is watching Dave Chappelle perform in Boise, Idaho. Lately, I've been wondering why more comedians don't come to Montana. Every once and a great while, a major comedian will perform in the state, but it's few and far between.
In the past couple of years, the two biggest comedians to perform in Montana were Trevor Noah and Bert Kreischer. Both of the shows were completely sold out. Last year, Adam Sandler performed in Boise and Spokane, but not in Montana. Could it be that there isn't a fitting venue for a standup comedy show in the state?
I know that I can't be the only person wondering why Montana is often skipped over. I understand that the population of Montana is quite a bit less than most other states, but historically, standup comedy shows do fairly well in Montana.
WHY DON'T MAJOR STANDUP COMEDIANS PERFORM IN MONTANA?
There are several music venues in Montana, but comedy clubs are hard to come by. Last Best Comedy in Bozeman is one of the only places that regularly schedules standup comedians. Instead of booking some washed-up rock band, venues in Montana need to consider booking standup comedians. If you're a fan of washed-up rock bands, I'm sorry if that offends you.
Bozeman and Missoula are both college towns and are missing out on a huge opportunity. I guarantee that if comedians like Joe Rogan, Dave Chappelle, or Shane Gillis booked a show in either place, tickets would sell out quickly.
Honestly, there's a lot of crazy stuff happening in the world right now, and we could all use a few laughs and some comedic relief.
