Driving on Thanksgiving? Here’s the Latest Montana Snow Forecast
Many people travel hundreds if not thousands of miles to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their family and loved ones. In Montana, traveling during the holiday season can be somewhat treacherous due to winter weather and snow. If you have plans to hit the road this Thanksgiving, we want to keep you updated on what to expect. Here's the latest weather forecast for Montana.
Much of Montana received snow towards the end of October, but conditions have been drier since then. Unfortunately, the next big weather maker will arrive in the state as people are preparing to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing, and snow is in the forecast for much of Montana.

According to the extended weather forecast from the Weather Channel, much of western Montana is expected to get snow beginning on Thanksgiving Day with accumulations totaling up to 3 inches in some places. That includes Bozeman, Missoula, Helena, and Great Falls, and Butte. Temperatures in the mid-30s are also forecasted. In Billings, colder temperatures are in the forecast, but not much snow.
It looks like western Montana is going to be the most trouble for travelers, so expect longer drive times and slower speeds if you are going to be driving. It's also important to plan for the worst and put together a winter emergency travel kit.
It's also a good idea to make sure your tires have enough tread on them if you're traveling a long distance. Safe travels, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.
