John Mayer Grateful For His Time with “Moose” in Montana
Musician John Mayer shared an emotional message on social media after the heartbreaking loss of a beloved pet.
Saying goodbye to a pet is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Even if you try to prepare yourself, nothing compares to the pain and heartbreak that comes with it.
John Mayer Says Goodbye to Longtime Companian "Moose"
When John Mayer isn't on stage playing music around the world, he's usually relaxing at his sanctuary near the Yellowstone River in Montana. In 2022, Mayer performed three shows with special guests, including comedian Dave Chappelle and the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, to raise money for Montana residents affected by historic flooding.

One of the things John Mayer loved most while in Montana was spending time with his dog "Moose." Sadly, Mayer recently had to say goodbye to his best friend of 14 years, and shared the following message on social media.
We said goodbye to Moose yesterday. He came into my life when I needed pure love, and that’s what he gave me for 14 years. We traded on that love, as well as something else I now realize was important: routine. For a guy like me who left home at 19 and had never lived the same day twice, our routine brought real comfort and stability. When dinner is always at 8, and the afternoon walks are at 4:30, those kinds of things can heal your heart. And they did, time and time again.
Today my heart is so heavy and sore, but there’s more love in my life than there has ever been, and that’s because Moose helped lead me to it. It can’t be long before I unearth an old tennis ball - there must be a hundred out there under sticks and brush that were too hard to fish out - and when I do, I’ll give it a toss, and think about the dog I had when I was becoming a man, and how he was such a good dog, and that there isn’t ever enough time. But there’s enough love. There’s more than enough.
While saying goodbye to a pet is rough, it seems like John Mayer isn't focusing on the negative. Instead, he is grateful for the life lessons and love that "Moose" gave him.
If you have ever had to say goodbye to a pet, then you can understand what John Mayer is going through. We want to send a little love his way.
