Kevin Smith Is Shooting ‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot’ This Fall
Almost two decades after making the first Jay and Silent Bob solo flick, Kevin Smith is returning to the View Askewniverse with Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which he announced was happening about six months ago. Now, it looks like his Supergirl schedule is giving him the break he needs to start shooting his new movie, which officially begins production this fall.
Smith tweeted a photo of himself and Jason Mewes in costume outside the Miramax lot, taken in 2001 when Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was shooting.
In his lengthy announcement back in February, Smith explained that he’d had a number of View Askewniverse — that’s the universe that Jay and Silent Bob, Clerks, Mallrats, and Dogma all share — projects in the works that never came together for one reason or another, mostly because he doesn’t fully own most of those properties anymore. But, he does own Jay and Silent Bob, and he is finally making a new movie about them.
He describes Jay and SIlent Bob Reboot as “a fun flick in which the Jersey boys have to go back to Hollywood to stop a brand new reboot of the old ‘Bluntman & Chronic Movie’ they hated so much.” Sounds like a worthy follow-up to all those movies we loved when we were fourteen.
