  • WHEN: Thursday, July 4th
  • TIME: 10pm start
  • WHERE: Gallatin County Fairgrounds
  • DURATION: The fireworks display will run for about 25 minutes.
  • This event is made possible by a public/private partnership formed in 2023

CAN YOU LIGHT FIREWORKS ANYWHERE IN THE BOZEMAN CITY LIMITS? The answer is 'NO'. Quoting the Bozeman Fire Chief, Josh Waldo: "All fireworks, except for sparklers, are banned in the city. You cannot discharge any firework within the city limits,"

Lighting off fireworks USED to be allowed for a few days surrounding the 4th of July, but no longer. According to the City of Bozeman, "as of June 2nd, 2023, the sale and discharge of fireworks is PROHIBITED in the city and county enclaves."

Fireworks are allowed in these areas on the following days and times:

  • Gallatin County
    No days or hours restrictions
  • Bozeman
    Use of fireworks is prohibited
  • Belgrade
    July 1-5 from 10 AM to 11 PM
  • Three Forks
    July 4 from 6 PM to midnight
    July 5 from 6 PM to 10 PM
    July 6 from 6 PM to 10 PM
  • Manhattan
    July 3 from 6 PM to 10 PM
    July 4 from 6 PM to midnight
  • West Yellowstone
    July 3 from 12 PM to 11 PM
    July 4 from 12 PM to midnight
  • U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of land Management, and National Park Service lands
    Fireworks are always prohibited on public lands

NOTE: Due to wildfire danger, you cannot light fireworks in Yellowstone National Park.

Until 2023 there was a three or four day window where fireworks WERE allowed to be lit within city limits. However, between several years of severely dry conditions and fire danger, and complaints...that window closed and fireworks are no longer allowed.
