Montana Hockey Fans Reveal Favorite Teams in Stanley Cup Playoffs
Hockey fans around the world are rejoicing! The 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs are officially underway. So, which team are Montana residents rooting for?
As a fan of hockey, there's nothing more exciting than the Stanley Cup Playoffs. After a long season, players are beat up and battling injuries, but the thought of hoisting the cup keeps them going.
Which Team is Montana Rooting For in the Stanley Cup Playoffs?
Montana doesn't have its own NHL team, but several teams have dedicated fan bases in Big Sky Country. Personally, I'm rooting for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, but a good friend of mine is a huge fan of the Colorado Avalanche, and I have another friend who loves the Edmonton Oilers.

Geographically, the Calgary Flames and the Seattle Kraken are the closest teams to Montana, but neither team is in the playoffs this year.
The Utah Mammoth joined the NHL in 2025 and made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs this year, which is exciting, considering it's only their second year in the league.
Longtime hockey fans in the state will tell you that the Colorado Avalanche is Montana's favorite professional hockey team, and for a long time, that was true. Due to media partnerships, things have changed. Montanans can easily watch Golden Knights and Mammoth games on regular TV.
Picking Montana's favorite hockey team may be difficult, but there's one thing we can all agree on. There's nothing quite like the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the next couple of months are going to be exciting to watch.
