Photos of Sunday’s Protest in Downtown Bozeman
An estimated 2,000 Bozeman area residents gathered on Sunday to show support for racial equality and against police brutality, bringing the global demonstrations in light of the police-involved death of George Floyd close to home.
Organized primarily by the Montana State University Black Student Union and the Montana Racial Equity Project, turnout was far above the original estimate of 100 people, leading to significant overflow at the Gallatin County Courthouse and the final destination for marchers from Bogert Park.
Protesters flowed down the southern side of Main Street's sidewalk for nearly an hour before peacefully assembling at the courthouse, across the street and at both corners of Main and 3rd.
Protesters were encouraged to respect social distancing guidelines and wear masks in compliance with Governor Bullock's COVID-19 directives.
