A brand-new, three-day music festival is happening in historic Virginia City this weekend, July 31 through August 2. It’s all to support the local businesses that keep the town alive.

Virginia City is one of Montana’s most cherished historic gold-rush towns. However, recent lease changes issued by the Montana Department of Commerce and the Montana Heritage Commission dropped long-standing concierge leases last December.

When offered back at significantly inflated rates, four local businesses were priced out, putting vital pieces of the town’s heritage on the line.

To respond, musicians and community members are rallying for the Save Virginia City Music Festival, designed to directly assist impacted local businesses and preserve the town’s rich legacy.

The festival takes place at the Virginia City Community Center, featuring daily performances by Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons, who are making a triumphant return to town. Music fans are also in for a rare treat on Sunday with a special reunion performance by Little Women.
