The Billboard Music Awards honors the biggest music stars of today and the future, but tonight's (May 17) ceremonies also spent some time looking back, including at the classic 1985 movie, The Breakfast Club. Molly Ringwald, one of the film's stars, introduced a performance by Simple Minds, who played "Don't You (Forget About Me)," which was recorded for the movie and has become inseparable from it. Check out their performance below:

The track, which played during the film's opening and closing credits, was released 30 years ago, in 1985. The track was written by composer Keith Forsey, and was passed upon by Bryan Ferry, Billy Idol and others before Simple Minds realized what an opportunity was in front of them: "Don't You (Forget About Me)" reached No. 1 on the U.S., Canadian and Dutch charts and is a bona fide pop culture classic.
