This past week was heart breaker for those who live in South West Montana as well as for those who live far away that have an ongoing long distance love affair with our mountain vistas and wilderness playgrounds. The fires whipped through some favorite places. Yes, it is necessary- the burn and regrowth, but it still feels like losing a close personal friend. A lot of us, if not all of us, in some way live here because of these Mountains. They nourish us in so many ways. In spite of cooler weather and a refreshing rain, they are still burning and the fire warnings still in effect. For Todays Fire Updates click here ( thanks to our sister station XL Country and Colleen O'Quinn) For information on all fire incidents click here.

There is also a  Pine Creek Fire Relief Fund -fundraiser for those who have been displaced- happening next Saturday September 8th at the Band Shell next to Sacajawea Park in Livingston from 2pm-8pm.  Live music, good eats and bevies will be on hand. You can also donate to the First Interstate bank of Livingston with memo Pine Creek Fire Fund.

With all the bad news and disbelief at our losses, there was some good news last week.

Pine Creek Lodge and Luccock Camp were both saved by the best firefighters ever- pretty amazing work. I've been sending them sweets. I heard they had been asking for baked goods- you can help out and bake them some thankful goodness. Send me an email at and Ill help with getting them to the Paradise Valley.

And finally,  our neighbor, friend, mountaineer- Conrad Anker was listed in Esquire Magazine in the article 'Best Athletes Right Now' alongside Federer, Tiger, Nadal & LeBron. Bozeman Badass, Conrad was #7. What an accolade for such a humble, kind, genuine, brave & compassionate man. Way to go, Conrad. I think he was quite surprised and humbled by the recognition.
