So I've already had breakfast this morning at the Huntley Dining Room. It's really quite pleasant when you're one of the first people awake in the building. Biscuits and gravy are always a good idea in my book. So Big Sky skiing is on the agenda today. "The Biggest Skiing In American", they say.

Freestyle mogul skier, and Bozeman native, Heather McPhie has officially been invited to be a member of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Ski Team. The 29-year-old former Bridger Freestyle Skier was chosen despite dissapointing performances in her last two qualifying competitions.

Crested Butte, CO was just recognized as the Best Ski Town in North America by Powder Magazine...and I'm o.k. with that. Here's why: they were a huge underdog, they celebrated by attempting to break the world record for the most Santa's skiing at one time, and they seem to have a lot in common with the Bozeman community (see video):

It's going to be a cold opening day but a hefty winter storm has dumped lots of fresh snow on the Bridgers this week, hopefully making for an excellent first day on the slopes. With two new lifts this season, you'll be able to enjoy even more of what you love at Bridger Bowl.

I had no idea that Big Sky Resort gifted a season pass to all Big Sky K-8 students. They have also announced eight recipients of their Boyne Excellence In Education Award. Those teachers will also receive a season pass for this coming year.

I got the email from the horse's mouth this afternoon (Big Sky Marketing Department, that is) so you know it's true....Big Sky Resort is set to open their ski season on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th.

Big Sky Resort made a big leap in Ski Magazine's 22nd annual Reader Resort Survey, with a ranking of 12th in the Top 30 resorts in the west. The consistent average snowfall of 400 inches and virtual non-existent lift lines has pushed Big Sky Resort to beat out many Colorado and Utah resorts.

Not ready to hang up your skis? It's prime skiing right now at Beartooth Pass. Sure it's a challenging boot pack hike to reach the challenging (yet ski-able) terrain at nearly 11,000 ft.
