Why Montana Needs to Bring Back Simple, Old-School Respect

It seems that every time I log onto any of my social media accounts lately, I see people being rude and insulting to each other.

I completely understand that people have their differences and that opinions obviously vary politically, but I'm deeply concerned about the way we treat one another right here in Montana.

What ever happened to "Kill 'em with kindness" or simply treating other people how you want to be treated? It seems that we used to value respect far more than we do in modern times.

Working in radio, one of the things that I enjoy the most is playing music that makes people happy. Music has a unique way of bringing people together, and it's a very powerful thing that bridges the gaps between us.

I went to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park while I was on vacation in Boston, and hearing a sold-out crowd singing "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" together was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced.

So, back to what I was saying. We all need to try and be nice to each other in Big Sky Country. Let's skip the name-calling and stop arguing back-and-forth in every single comment thread; we just need to be nice.

Be kind, check in, and look out for your neighbors. It's really not that hard to remember how to treat people right. Let's be better, Montana. We're all different, and that's a good thing.
