A fatal crash in Gallatin County has claimed the life of a 47-year-old driver from Colorado.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, along MT-64 near Big Sky.

Investigators say the man was in a Toyota Truck traveling westbound on MT64, drifted off the roadway to the right, crossed Lone Mountain Ranch Road, and rolled multiple times.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities report the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Officials have not released the identity of the victim.

Incidents like this serve as a reminder of how quickly conditions can change on roads in Montana, especially in rural areas where lighting is limited and speeds are often higher.

The crash remains under investigation, and it is unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
