As autumn colors peak and the streets of Bozeman turn gold, the city’s Fall Leaf Pickup Project is once again in full swing, helping keep storm drains clear and winter flooding at bay.

The project began as a simple but important way to protect Bozeman’s infrastructure. When fallen leaves get washed into storm drains, they can build up and block water flow.

Once winter arrives, those clogs can freeze solid, potentially damaging the drains and leading to costly repairs. By collecting leaves before they reach the gutters, residents are helping keep neighborhoods safe, clean, and ready for snow season.

Subdivision Bag Pickup Dates:

  • Riverside: Thursday, October 16th
  • Sundance Springs & West Meadow: Tuesday, October 28th
  • The Lakes at Valley West: Thursday, November 6th
  • Creekwood: Friday, November 7th

Residents in subdivisions should collect their leaves in paper compostable bags. Plastic will not be accepted. Place the bags on the curb in front of your house before your neighborhood’s designated pickup day.

In core neighborhoods, crews will be raking and baling leaves right off the street. You’ll see 'No Parking Street Cleaning' signs before pickup begins. Please keep cars off the road on those days to allow the equipment and crews to pass through smoothly and get work done.

Drop-off dates include:

  • October 25th
  • November 1st
  • November 8th
  • November 15th

Compost trucks and roll-off dumpsters will be available to collect leaves.

Bozeman’s Fall Leaf Pickup Project is a great reminder that small community efforts can have big environmental benefits. By taking a little time to bag or rake your leaves properly, you’re helping prevent frozen drains, protecting local waterways, and keeping your neighborhood looking great all season long.

Thanks for doing your part to keep Bozeman beautiful, and the storm drains flowing freely. Additional details about the 2025 Fall Leaf Cleanup can be found on the City of Bozeman website.
