Need to brush up on your back country safety skills and can't afford a class? The City of Bozeman Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center have opened a beacon park in downtown Bozeman!

The park is located in the southeast corner of Beall Park at 415 N. Bozeman Ave. It's FREE to the public and open 7 days a week from 9 am - 8 pm.

Bozeman's Beacon Park provides a great opportunity for people of all ages to hone their avalanche rescue skills. The park is equipped with three buried transceivers. Users will be able to turn on one, two or all of the transceivers and then user their personal transceiver and probe to locate the buried ones.

For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 582-2910.
