Coldplay Say They Will Take A Three-Year Hiatus From Touring [VIDEO]
Just days after hinting at a possible new album in the works, Coldplay told a sold-out Australian audience that they would be taking quite a long hiatus from touring.
Frontman Chris Martin dropped a bomb at Coldplay's final concert of their current tour in Brisbane last week, announcing that "this is the last big show for three years or so." The band has been on the road for most of 2012 supporting last year's Mylo Xyloto. They still plan to play a New Year's Eve concert with Jay-Z in Brooklyn next month, but after that, it could be at least another three years before Coldplay return to a stage.
Martin spoke to an Australian radio station just days before the Brisbane show and mentioned that their next album, their sixth, would have a more pronounceable title then their current one. I guess it'll be a couple of years until we see if he keeps his word.
Early on in the Brisbane show last week, Martin thanked the crowd for coming, and promised "we're going to play for you the best f#*king show in our life". Here's video of Coldplay performing "Viva La Vida" from that show:
