We have a building full of super smart ladies and I always like to hear when someone is excited about saving for their retirement. Yeah, I'm that girl.

Spend less, Save more

I don't really know how I became so interested in money and how it can grow and work for you but it's been an important part of my being since High School.

That's not to say that I have a lot of money, but I save whenever I can and I THINK about having a lot of money later in life when it counts.

Nobody wants to work until they're 86. And sometimes you actually see people working when they're 86. Whenever I see that, I hope that they WANT to be working to fill their day not because they'd be eating dog food if they didn't have a part-time job.

With that said, take a few minutes to try one of my favorite time-killers. Check your financial future. There are tons of financial calculators out there that will tell you:

  • How much you need to save to be a millionaire by age whatever.
  • How much per paycheck you should be stashing away so you can retire at all.

You catch my drift. Now use one. It's super important to know where you stand, and how you're going to get to where you WANT to stand later. This simple page of calculators is a good place to start.

Ask your HR person if your company offers any savings plans. If not, no big deal. Do it yourself. Save just a little each paycheck and you'll be AMAZED at how quickly it will grow. -Michelle
