More Cases of Measles Confirmed in Gallatin County
In the last week, two more cases of measles have been confirmed in Gallatin County.
The GCCHD has identified a point of exposure to the general public. According to the official press release from the Gallatin County Health Departments states:
"The first case, confirmed on May 23, 2025, involves an adult who was hospitalized and has since been released. The hospital followed all appropriate precautions to ensure proper isolation throughout their care. A second adult case was confirmed on May 28, 2025."
The vaccination status of the first confirmed case/individual is unknown. Concerningly, the second individual is reportedly fully vaccinated for measles. This raises questions.
The point of public exposure is Casey’s Corner – 4135 Valley Commons Dr., Bozeman. Specifically, on May 20th, 2025 between 7am and 10am. There are further details about this on the Gallatin County Health Department website.
The best way to protect against measles is to get the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine (called MMR). Most people were vaccinated as children, but it depends on what year you were born.
Measles is a serious respiratory disease (in the lungs and breathing tubes) that causes a rash and fever. If you think you may have measles:
"Immediately call your doctor and let them know about the symptoms you are having. Your doctor will:
- Determine if you are immune to measles based on your vaccination record or if you had measles in the past.
- Make special arrangements to evaluate you, if needed, without putting other patients and medical office staff at risk."
