Who Owns the Big Banana Car Pulled Over by Montana Highway Patrol?
On several occasions, I've shared stories about the heroics of Montana law enforcement. In most of those stories, I've highlighted that law enforcement never knows what they're getting into.
Recently, Montana High Patrol shared an "incident" that further reinforces this point. Don't worry - it's actually kind of awesome.
Montana Highway Patrol's Unique Traffic Stop
Montana Highway Patrol shared one of the most unusual traffic stops any of us will hear about today on their Facebook page.
"We’ve stopped speeders, distracted drivers, and even a few unusual vehicles… but this one definitely stands out," Montana Highway Patrol said in the post.

"The Big Banana Car was stopped cruising near Billings today. While it may be apPEALing, traffic laws still apply to fruit. Safe travels, Montana."
Don't you love their sense of humor. If they're serious about a traffic violation and if the violation wasn't a serious one, I sincerely hope the driver got let off with a warning. I mean, come on... look at the vehicle!
Speaking of the driver and vehicle... what's the story behind that?
Who Owns the Big Banana Car?
While the man in the photo's face is covered with a bandana, one can only assume he's the owner of the vehicle.

In a deep dive search, I discovered the "Big Banana Car" belongs to Steve Braithwaite and was built by Braithwaite "and a close group of friends (they're all listed on his over a 2 1/2 year period beginning in 2008" according to BigBananaCar.com.
According to the story, the group started with a 1993 Ford pickup truck in Bowling Green, Ohio before the project shifted to Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and finished in Coopersburg, PA.

Described as an adventurer and self-proclaimed "world's first Banananaut", Steve Braithwaite is from Woodstock in Oxfordshire, England and says he was attracted to all things yellow from an early age.
The vehicle has been traveling throughout the US since 2011.
That means there's a good chance the Big Banana Car had passed through Montana before this recent "traffic stop."
Of course, because he's masked in the photo... the driver could technically be someone else. And you never know, maybe Steve let someone else take his ride for a stroll through Montana!
So, you think Montana Highway Patrol gave the driver a ticket?
