Which Montana Towns Are Best In Nation For Fall Foliage?
Fall has officially arrived on our doorstep, and honestly, it might just be the best time of year. You know it’s here when the trees suddenly burst into color, as if Mother Nature decided to throw confetti all over the mountainsides. Aspen groves turn whole mountainsides into illusions of fire with yellows and reds blending together. Toss in the larches, which pull the ultimate fall trick by swapping green for gold, and you’ve got yourself a season worth slowing down for.
Recently, Stacker put out its list of the 50 best places to view fall foliage in the U.S., and Montana showed up in style. Coming in at #12 was Whitefish, where you can paddle across Whitefish Lake with a front-row view of fiery maples, larch, and the Flathead Valley.
Just one spot higher at #11 was Darby, tucked in the Bitterroot Valley between the Sapphire and Bitterroot Mountains. Already jaw-dropping on its own, fall rolls in and paints it like a Bob Ross fever dream.

Some of our fairly close neighbors, like Park City, Utah (#4), also made the list. So now we want to know: Where’s your favorite place in Montana to watch the leaves put on a show? Leaf us a comment HERE.
