After dipping her toe into solo waters with last year's Oscar-nominated 'The Moon Song,' Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O is taking the full plunge. She's just announced that she'll be releasing her first solo album, 'Crush Songs,' on Sept. 9 on Cult Records, the label owned by the Strokes' Julian Casablancas.

Though the album will be new to fans, it was written and recorded in 2006 and 2007 while the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were between records. In a note posted on her website, Karen O explained, "When I was 27, I crushed a lot. I wasn't sure I'd ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours."

A limited vinyl edition of 'Crush Songs,' complete with Karen O's personal drawings and handwritten lyrics, is available for pre-order on the Cult Records website.

So far no music from 'Crush Songs' has been made available, but since it promises to have the same intimate, lo-fi vibe as 'The Moon Song,' let's revisit that gem.
