
Very Gusty Winds on Fort Peck Lake Until Friday
A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for Fort Peck Lake and other areas through Friday morning. Strong winds are creating 3 to 4 foot waves, and dangerous conditions for smaller boats.
Use caution all day Thursday, and Friday morning, if you plan to recreate on Fort Peck Lake.
York Island area is forecasted to receive the largest waves on Thursday, and into Friday morning. The weather model link below is VERY handy, and give you the projected wave height throughout the afternoon and evening hours.

- A LAKE WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THURSDAY TO 4 AM FRIDAY.
- WHAT...Northwest winds 25 to 30 mph with some gusts up to 40 mph expected.
- WHERE...Fort Peck Lake.
- WHEN...From 9 AM Thursday to 4 AM Friday.
- IMPACTS...Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous conditions for small craft.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wave heights in excess of 4 feet are possible, especially in the dry arm of the lake.
- PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Boaters on Fort Peck Lake should use extra caution since strong winds and rough waves can overturn small craft.
