Forget the flowers that will be dead by the weekend. HOWEVER, some of these ideas WILL require some time and effort on your part.

The good news is that as long as you do SOMETHING today (Valentine's Day), any of these tasks can be done in the near future and "still count" as a Valentine's Day gesture.

  • DO THE DISHES. LIKE, MORE THAN ONCE. AND MAKE IT A FULL SINK WORTH. Having a clean kitchen that we didn't have to take care of is awesome.
  • Wax her skis or snowboard. Get her ice skates sharpened. There's still plenty of winter left and if it's been a while since the basic maintenance has been addressed, bam! (Granted there might be minimal cost involved with this one.)
  • Go pick up the dog poop. Or change the cat box. Before it gets disgusting and she has to ask you to do it.
  • Change her oil and wash her car. We're not idiots....we can do this ourselves but not HAVING to do it is rad. (Again, if you don't do your own oil changes there might be some cost but as long as you do it soon, it still counts.) The weather is going to be great today AND tomorrow so washing her car shouldn't be a problem.

You get the idea. It's not about how much you spend, it's about doing something nice.

I think Valentine's Day is a bit silly but it doesn't mean we should just ignore it. Look at it as a great excuse to be wonderful to someone you love.

Best of luck!
