Apparently, there's a backdoor banger making the rounds in the small town of Manhattan. In the past week, one resident has been targeted twice.

In the most recent post on the Manhattan Montana Facebook page, a resident wrote;

1:00 AM on a Thursday night & the"Backdoor Banger" is at it again. Parents do you know where you're teenagers are?

The resident claims that an unidentified person, otherwise known as the 'Backdoor Banger' has been banging on her backdoor, and then runs away like a coward.

When I first read it, I thought of playing ding-dong ditch when I was a kid. It's where you knock on a door, then running off. As kids, we never intended to hurt anyone. Instead, it was a harmless prank.

I live in Manhattan. It's a small town and I'm sure the kids that live in town get pretty bored during the summer. There isn't much to do for younger people.

As I read through the comments, I was kind of shocked by some of the responses. One person wrote;

Parents aren't teaching kids about Manhattan residents with guns.

What?! The thought that someone would even think about shooting a kid for playing ding-dong ditch is incredibly disturbing.

Here is another comment.

Sit out there with a shotgun some night.

Whatever happened to a kid being able to be a kid without having to worry about getting shot? If they aren't damaging your property or breaking into your vehicles, are they really causing any harm?

I understand that nobody likes to get woken up in the middle of the night, but other than being inconvenient, it's not really anything to freak out about. That's just my opinion though.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Manhattan residents are overreacting a bit, or do you agree with them?
