Montana Pride: Yelp’s “Open to All” Feature Finds Inclusive Businesses
I just recently noticed this badge, although the "Open to All" inclusive feature has been around since 2018. Want to find LGBTQ+ friendly restaurants, bars and businesses in Montana? It's never been easier.
You'll find a Yelp map of rainbow pins when you search "Open to All" businesses in whatever industry you're looking in. We did a quick search for "Open to All" restaurants in a few Montana cities and were pleased to find several on the results lists.
Keep in mind, the Yelp tool wouldn't necessarily include all LGBTQ+ supportive businesses in your desired area. It's only going to show you the retailers, services, bars, hotels, etc. that specifically set up THEIR Yelp profile to display their support.
What does it actually mean to be designated an "Open to All" business? It's quite simple and not a ginormous political statement. According to Yelp themselves:
The “Open to All” attribute allows businesses to distinguish themselves as a safe and welcoming place for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, immigration status, religion or disability.
How do you designate your business as an "Open to All" store or service? Just log in to your Yelp for Business account and you'll be guided through the simple process if you want to display the badge and/or show up specifically when a consumer uses "Open to All" as a search filter.
Now you know a super easy way to put your dollars where you want when you're shopping at a local business, or on vacation across the country. It's not a perfect science but at least you know the businesses that DO SHOW UP when you search with this filter made an active decision to display that badge.
