The State of Montana Shows Up in Odd Places
I had a moment of surprise recently, and it got me wondering how some things work.
Over the past four days, I was on vacation in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My friends and I went to a concert, saw a Minnesota Twins game, and explored the Twin Cities. It was an excellent experience in a place none of us had ever been to before.
When I go on vacation, I typically don't think about Bozeman or Montana or what's happening at work. I like to be in the moment. As I found out this weekend, however, apparently I can't escape Montana.
After the Minnesota Twins game, we used a Lyft to get back to our Airbnb. Typically, Lyft or Uber drivers have music playing, and our driver had the local Top 40 station on. During one of the commercial breaks, I heard a commercial promoting tourism in a certain state.
My friends and I looked at each other in disbelief. We couldn't believe that the one time we listened to the radio, we heard an ad for our great state of Montana. It blew us away.
Honestly, it was a great ad, and if you are an avid mountain biker, love dinosaurs, and want to get out of the big city, Montana is only a state away from Minnesota. I lived in Idaho for years and never heard an ad for Montana tourism. Are these ads only played in major metropolitan areas? I have so many questions.
So the next time you are on vacation and have the radio on, don't be surprised if you hear an ad for Montana tourism. The state is upping its game.
