Mumford and Sons have achieved record-breaking debut sales week following the release of their latest album, ‘Babel.’ Their new album sold an astonishing 600,000 copies in the first week alone, far surpassing Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe’ (which previously stood as the most successful chart debut of 2012 with 374,000 copies sold).

‘Babel’ – which hit stores on Sept. 24 via Glassnote Records – is the first Mumford and Sons album to land in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, it triggered the most one-week sales for a rock band since 2008, when ‘Black Ice’ by AC/DC sold 784,000 copies.

Mumford and Sons’ 2009 release of ‘Sigh No More’ achieved a surprising amount of success as well, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Charts and selling more than 200,000 copies. They aimed even higher with their brand-new album, and these staggering results prove that their hard work paid off.

They sparked a great deal of excitement amongst their fans by premiering the record's lead single, 'I Will Wait,' prior to its release, causing 'Babel' to become one of the most anticipated albums this fall. They are currently on the road and plan to visit Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the U.K. in the upcoming months to promote their new music.
