Greatest Bozeman Reactions to a New Apartment Development
New real estate developments in Bozeman continue to pop up. One of the latest to be constructed is gathering some fantastically opiniated reactions. Bozeman locals never fail to give their honest opinions about real estate prices and changes in general.
OP: "So excited about the "Boutique Apartments" coming to Cell Block ________.!
- Another huge and ugly building with limited parking. Not. Sweet.
- Is there a “Brutalism” revival going on? A car battery is more attractive than that.
- Is that what they are calling 500 square feet with a shared kitchen these days? That’s your future young people keep voting for build anything, anywhere.
- Good living in a coffin apartment!
- How can the City allow such ugly buildings!
Comments don't get much better from here. And there's nothing unusual about the harsh statements. Bozeman is known for their blunt views on new developments.
- Downtown Bozeman has become the “NEW State of MT, State Penitentiary!”
- “Everyone is just going to love living in it, “the City said! What a joke, and a disgrace to those who built this amazing community! If I had all the money in the world…,I’d never live in any of these new buildings!.
- Ooof, that’s ugly.
- Why did the city allow this building designed as it is? that is what must change and the new UDC could make it so- if it actually intends to serve the public and livability "
The City of Bozeman itself was put to task for their hand in approval and design issues. But does this development serve a purpose in it's location in downtown Bozeman? Perhaps. Many of the units are already spoken for and it's not even open yet.
- Not something an art student will be sketching anytime soon!
- Soulless
- Yes looks like a penitentiary with windows!! How did this get approved by city planning?! Seems we have a lot of these "boxes" with windows..ugh!
- It DOES look like a cell block and it's going to house prisoners who don't realize they're prisoners until it's too late.
- I thought it was interesting on their website they talk up the historical neighborhood and what a wonderful area it is in. that's some crazy irony
- It looks bomb proof.
- I will say this building in particular seems way too close to the sidewalk/street (especially given houses around it) and I definitely think that needs to be considered with future developments.
- The frosting on the cake is that they have the brass to name that thing...
The governor did say something about building up the prison system maybe this is it! It certainly LOOKS like it could be a prison. There is nothing at all appealing about this place. I wouldn't live there if it were free,
- Looks like a prison
- Timeless!
- Like the building that has no trees no setbacks a prison-like design out of scale no parking no greenspace
- And, oh so many cars...with no parking.
- And, it’s dark gray Blah and blah.
Bozeman had one more set of comments on this new apartment complex:
- Wow! I've seen some ugly buildings, Cabrini Green for example, Montana State Prison, a cave in a sandstone outcropping, but this one takes the cake. U G L Y ugly!
- You lose the rights you don't enforce. This could probably have been stopped, but it's going to take legal action to prevent future monstrosities from blighting your neighborhoods and reducing your property values.
- Prisons are actually very expensive!
- We can't blame the building any more than you can blame a dog with an overbite. It was allowed by your city council which has taken an attitude of "Let Them Eat Cake" as long as the building meets the minimum building code requirements.
