St. Vincent Will Make Her Directorial Debut With Horror Anthology 'XX'

Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) will bring her love of the macabre to the big screen as one of four female filmmakers contributing to the upcoming horror anthology, XX. The movie features "four deadly tales by four deadly women" and Clark co-wrote her segment with Roxanne Benjamin – the mind behind the V/H/S franchise.

It marks a new creative challenge for the multifaceted Clark, who won a Grammy in 2014 for St. Vincent's self-titled album. And considering her predilection for bloody imagery (whether in songs like "Severed Crossed Fingers" or by performing in crimson-splattered garb) this latest project seems like a natural fit. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to explore the genre-film medium,” Clark said in a statement.

The vision is for the four films to be distinctly separate, yet thematically linked. Other filmmakers slated for the anthology include Jennifer Lynch (Surveillance), Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird) and Karyn Kusama (The Invitation).

A release date is forthcoming, but Kusama indicated on the podcast Killer POV that the production is well under way with Clark’s contribution one of the final remaining pieces.
