Ice Jam

The Powder River in eastern Montana happens to be the first dealing with flooding issues. Specifically, and ice jam seven miles south of Broadus is their culprit and causing concern.

An ice jam caused a portion of Cameron Bridge Road west of Belgrade to be closed between Linney Road and Highline Road. NOW REOPENED.

A FLOOD WARNING for an ice jam remains in effect until 5:00 p.m Friday for Eastern Madison County.

Tis the season for ice jams along Montana's rivers. Campgrounds north of Townsend are experiencing some flooding due to ice jams, prompting a Flood Warning through Monday night.

We forget that flooding can occur in the Winter too....and there is currently a Flood Watch in effect for the Jefferson near Three Forks. The official warning is as follows:

A Flood Warning has been issued for the Gallatin River near Logan until further notice. An ice jam has forced the river out of its banks. No roads or structures are threatened at this time, but ice jams are unpredictable, and sudden rises in river levels could occur.
