The person I am today (for better or worse) owes a lot to the town of Ennis, Montana and the Madison Valley as a whole. That place shaped my childhood in all the good ways.
I'm a big fan of my front yard but 'Uncle Gordon's' place south of Cameron in the Madison Valley is by far my absolute, hands down favorite place in Montana.
One of southwest Montana's most beautiful places is on fire. The fire has doubled in size in the last 24 hours. More than 2,200 acres between Hidden Lake and Cliff lake are burning with the cause still unknown. The whole area of Cliff Lake, Wade Lake and Hidden Lake are now closed to the public.
Continued temperatures in the 90s along with gusty winds and afternoon thunderstorm activity puts some Montana counties under a Red Flag Warning until at least Friday evening.
Lots of snow early in the week, warmer temperatures and RAIN in the last day has dramatically increased the chance of low lying areas becoming flooded today. If you encounter flooding on roadways or creeks, please report it to law enforcement.
