This is the third year The University of Wisconsin has gauged the health of U.S. counties. To no surprise to us, this is the third year that Gallatin County was named the healthiest county in Montana! Seriously, everyone I know that lives in this county either runs, bikes, or skis (most love all three). This is such an active, health-conscious community and I love it. Keep that heart rate up Gallatin County! The Gallatin City-County Health Department did tell KBZK that our county still has a lot of work to do, as 20 to 25 percent of people here are without health insurance. Wow, little irony there.

If you were wondering what model of criteria The University of Wisconsin uses, according to them:

The County Health Rankings are based on a conceptual model of population health that includes both Health Outcomes (length and quality of life) and Health Factors (determinants of health). These Outcomes and Factors were broken down into a number of components, which were additionally broken down into subcomponents we call Focus Areas.

Other healthy counties in Montana this year include Madison, Park and Jefferson. Roosevelt County was at the bottom of the list. CLICK HERE for the full list of rankings.
