As the government shutdown drags on, garbage and human waste are piling up at many of America's national parks.

Thankfully we have some amazing folks near Yellowstone National Park who are volunteering their own time to make sure the park is open and clean for visitors.

About 30 volunteers met in Gardiner, near Mammoth, to fan out across the northern part of the park in order to clean bathrooms and remove garbage.

It was all organized by local Chuck Tanner, who treated all the volunteers to pizza and drinks at his tavern after the work was done.

We just want to thank these people who are simply great Montanans. Taking care of our natural beauty is important and knowing that citizens are stepping up to take care of parks is awesome.
