Air Quality Alert for Southwest Montana Today
Smoke from area fires continue to make the air quality around southwest Montana extremely poor. People with breathing issues need to take extra precautions.
(Smoke in Bozeman, MT)
The Montana department of environmental quality has issued an air quality alert for all of north central and southwest Montana until further notice. An air quality alert means that particulates have been trending upwards exceeding the 24 hour national ambient air quality standard (naaqs). It has occurred or may occur in the near future. Air quality levels range from moderate to unhealthy across much of central and southwest Montana. When air quality levels are unhealthy... state and local health officials recommend that people with respiratory or heart disease... the elderly... and children should avoid prolonged exertion; everyone else should limit prolonged exertion.
