The best time to be in Montana is during the Fall, because high tourist season is done, the kids are back in school, and the weather can remain incredibly nice long after the official start of Autumn. Montana holds some of the coolest events across the state in the Fall, and they're worth a mini-vacation.

For the sake of argument, the official start of Fall this year is Sunday, Sep 22nd, 2024 at 6:43 AM, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. Fall is interesting in Montana, to say the least. It can be one of the most beautiful, colorful, peaceful seasons that lasts for weeks on end - or it can literally last 4 days before Winter sets in.

Silver Lining Foundation Dragon Boat Festival - (Big Arm, MT - Flathead Lake) Happening on Saturday, September 7th, 2024. There are 200m races and 500m finals for top teams for different team categories. You can be a sponsor, become a vendor, sign up to volunteer, or enter a team at the link above.

• Dragon Boat Team Categories:
• 20-person mixed , (max of 10 males)

• 10 person teams, MIXED ONLY (max of 5 males)

Downtown Bozeman Trick-or-Treating - (Bozeman, MT): This classic Main Street event is very popular and lots of fun. It's safe and well organized, so the chaos of little kids can actually be enjoyed! It's a safe way to let the kids trick-or-treat.

• Over 150 downtown Bozeman businesses participate

• Many safety officers at intersections to keep everyone safe
