Fire Weather Watch Friday for Northern Montana

Shelby, Cut Bank, Browning and Conrad on the northern border are under a Fire Weather Watch for Friday with low humidity, high temps and gusty winds.

FYI - The border with Canada will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least August 21st, 2020 with more extensions possible.

According to the National Weather Service:

FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING
LOW HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WINDS
In effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening.
WINDS...Southwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 17 percent.
IMPACTS...New fires igniting in low elevation grassy areas may be difficult to contain.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible.
A combination of gusty winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create high fire growth potential.
