Fire Weather Watch Friday for Northern Montana
Shelby, Cut Bank, Browning and Conrad on the northern border are under a Fire Weather Watch for Friday with low humidity, high temps and gusty winds.
FYI - The border with Canada will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least August 21st, 2020 with more extensions possible.
According to the National Weather Service:
- FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING
- LOW HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WINDS
- In effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening.
- WINDS...Southwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
- RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 17 percent.
- IMPACTS...New fires igniting in low elevation grassy areas may be difficult to contain.
- A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible.
- A combination of gusty winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create high fire growth potential.
