A flood warning for snow melt is in effect through Saturday.

Snow melt will cause continued rises along the Gallatin River through early next week, with flooding lingering into late next week.

As of Friday morning, the Gallatin river was at 8.8 feet. Flood stage is at 9 feet. The river will fluctuate near or just below flood stage through the weekend, then begin to steadily rise early next week. The Gallatin river is forecast to rise to near 10 feet by next Tuesday, May 29.

Low lying fields near the river mat begin to flood. Some smaller roads and bridges may also be impacted. Those not experiencing flooding now, may begin to see flooding this weekend or early next week.

Those planning to recreate on or near the Gallatin river over Memorial Day weekend are encouraged to be mindful of fast flows and high water levels.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
